I had an idea today off of the league play stuffs Chris was doing earlier with the sealed stuff. What about purchasing a draft set of the latest 3 sets and doing trades and what not similar to how chris's league was working and when the next set rolls out each purchase a couple packs to incorporate into the deck and keep going like that from there?
I could see this extended to an edh concept as well.

Hot list, looks very hatemongering . Surprised to still see no Faerie Trickery in there but Cancel is. . . Is Gauntlet of Power just unnecessary here? I'm noticing the snow-covered Islands but I'm guessing it's there mostly for mouth of romon (which is also noticeably absent from the list) Would Careful Study be good for you? It's used a lot in Legacy.

Faerie Trickery vs Cancel: I think Cancel is better. The issue with Faerie Trickery is that it can't hit Faerie spells, thus missing Vendilion Clique, Mistbind Clique, Wydwen, the Biting Gale and Oona, Queen of the Fae, Glen Elendra Archmage, and Sower of Temptation. Cancel just doesn't remove the spell from the game thus negating some of the cards that shuffle back into their deck (but they would still need to draw the card).
Gauntlet of Power is unnecessary because I am not going to massive mana. Massive mana helps, but I don't want to tap out on my turn (the deck is nearly 100% instants).
Careful Study is a Sorcery thus it doesn't make the cut.
Mouth of Ronom is good. The problem is I'm running up against a hard limit of colorless and CIPT lands. I need 2 blue untapped turn 2. Scrying Sheets needs to come in for something (I am thinking Riptide Lab) but Mouth of Ronom is another spot I just don't have at the moment.
Time Spiral needs to go. I think Misdirect should go in it's place but I'm not positive on that replacement. It could either be Faerie Trickery or Complicate.
Two other cards that I should fit in (or are definite possibles) are Mana Drain (obviously but I don't have $100 for that) and Tunnel Vision.

You have so many counterspells that I think the few *possible* misses with Faerie Trickery are negligible and it then becomes basically a second dissipate.
Misdirection or Misdirect? If Misdirection I would say go with that for sure unless it's already in the list.
I said Gauntlet of Power but what I really meant was Extraplanar Lens because of the snow-covered lands. Having access to lots of mana is nothing to sneeze at, even if you're not ramping into things, albeit you'd have to have some free counter back-up ready to go.
I'm very surprised to see neither Jace in your deck. Seems like an auto-include to me. Big Jace can handle threats, bounce your click, brainstorm a bunch, and little jace can draw you cards.
Some other cards possible worth including for locks-
Arcane Laboratory Other Card (one that counters first spell played each turn by your opponent)
Stasis and a bouncer (like temporal adept) (could also run gilded drake with that)

There are 10 non-instant/flash/land cards in the deck. Each of them is carefully selected for it's ability to tip the scales in my favor immediately. Ancestral Vision - 1 CC and draws me 3 cards. If I don't play it turn 1, I'll play it when I have extra mana to spare after countering the opponent's stuff. Merchant Scroll - Straight up tutor for about half my deck. It gets no better than that. Sensei's Divining Top - Allows me to draw what I need. Crucible of Worlds - I'm running 5 land destruction lands, and being able to recur them results in lockouts. Additionally even pairing it with a fetch land lets me thin my deck. Isochron Scepter - Can you say recurring counterspell? Absolutely broken and I'll always get my money out of it. Sol Ring - 2 colorless mana for 1? I say yes! Ertai, Wizard Adept - Actually, one of the more marginal cards in the deck. A recurring counterspell is nuts but he costs 3 up front and takes a turn to come online. Treachery - Free when you consider that I'm untapping my mana. Frees up a counterspell because instead of countering their primo creature I'm stealing it instead and beating them with it. Acquire - A potentially marginal card if they aren't playing insane artifacts. Thing is, this is EDH and they most likely are playing something that wins the game on the spot when I steal it and put it into play. Bribery - #winning!
Arcane lab I've thought about but it's dangerous vs blue decks (or decks that can use my EOT to flash something into play). The counter guy is Erayo and you need to play 4 spells in a turn to flip him.
The big Jace just bounces creatures. Useful, but he can only be played turn 5-6 to keep countermagic up. Also, if I am doing it right I'll just counter their creatures instead of needing to bounce them. The baby Jace is a better card for the deck due to the draw ability but even then it costs 3 and I would rather use countermagic to keep control of the game. He is able to be played late game during turns 5+ but he is also a target.
Stasis + bouncer is good but you need a deck set up to abuse the pieces if you draw half the combo (and have multiple copies of the pieces). My deck doesn't have the ability to abuse half of the combo so I would rather skip.

Went 3-1, my only loss was to a Vendilion Clique deck (mirror). I also lost all the die rolls and went 2nd every game Round 1 vs Wrexial, the Risen Deep He was pounding on me with a Thrumming Bird for most of the game. He was playing infect and I was countering all his creatures. Eventually, he got out a Decimator Web through my counter wall but I get out Vendilion Clique EOT. Realizing I don't win that race, I played Bribery and grabbed a Phyrexian Vatmother. He died to his own poison... Round 2 vs Glissa, the Traitor I Commandeer a turn 1 Top (FTW!). Turn two he plays a Sylvan Library He keeps eating 8 life every turn. I realize this is bad because I'm being horribly outdrawn and he's going to hit the nuts soon and pwn me. I flop his top for an extra card turn 5, play Acquire and help myself to a Blightsteel Colossus! Why play cards from my own deck when I can win with the opponents cards in deck? Round 3 vs Vendilion Clique This game goes really long because of the extreme counters and stuff he draws. He eventually gets a fresh hand with Blue Sun's Zenith I get out a Isochron Scepter with Counterspell on it. He has 15+ mana available to him to my 7 and eventually he plays too much stuff and I can't counter it all. He wins with Temple Bell + Mind Over Matter and an eldrazi in deck I had board control and would have most likely ended up winning that one had it gone any longer. The best part of this match is he plays Bribery on me, and I just go meh because I have literally 2 creatures in the deck and neither one help him much. The second most awesome part is I show a Commandeer off Counterbalance during his turn. I draw the Commandeer, Tap for something (I think a Clique), and say go. He then Mystical Tutors for a Time Stretch and during his turn plays it. I promptly Commandeer the by removing two blue spells! Final epicness was having his Vendilion Clique cost 13 mana at the end Match 4 vs Jenara, Asura of War He gets mana fucked and I steamroll him. Bribary for a Serra Ascendant and when he gets no land he scoops. I was holding a decent amount of land and infinite counters So, in the end I got 3rd place and earned $10 store credit (already spent). I also found out we can play with a 10 card sideboard Time to tweak!

Tonight I went 3-0 and drew for 1st/2nd. Won myself $25!
Match 1 vs Captain Sisay He kept playing stuff I needed to counter and it took me several turns to get Vendilion Clique out. He got out Saffi Eriksdotter and Qasali Pridemage, I have Counterbalance and Crystal Ball (plus Vendilion Clique). He disenchants my stuff and I just beat him down with Clique. There were mana issues because he got out a land tax and thus I couldn't just dump my lands into play. It ended up being a simple race and Clique does well in that situation due to general damage.
Match 2 vs Captain Sisay He took his free mulligan and then kept a 0 land hand. He proceeded to draw no land for 6-7 turns! FREE BEATS! It was over when he started playing stuff.
Match 3 vs Oros, the Avenger I had no clue what this dude was playing. I Vendilion Clique him turn 3 and noticed he had 5 lands in hand, a Shriekmaw and a Angel of Despair. I got out a Ertai, Wizard Adept, defended him with a Pact of Negation. He just draws land from there on in and I cruise to victory with Vendilion Clique beatdown.
My winnings are being banked so I can get a FoW that's in the display case =D

Interesting...I never would have expected Oros to be a viable 1v1 general. The color combination is pretty weird.

Nice Chris! and yeah I'm curious to see what's in that Oros deck. Not sure what you mean Travis by it being a wierd color combination though, that's a pretty solid color combination IMO. you have access to lots of goodies.

Oros' color combination is ok and not something you typically see. You can definitely go several different directions with those colors, but the general doesn't really help you out except if you are fighting a token swarm. It does 3 damage to every non-white creature. So not only does it miss vs white creature decks (which are plentiful in EDH) but it also blows out your own creatures.
Obviously, with Clique you capitalize on any falter of the opponent and thus I didn't see much of his deck. It was fully powered with duals and fetches and thus had he not gotten mana flooded, I bet it would have been more of a game. I think he was playing it as a destruction type of deck but I didn't see much of the deck.
I am tempted to play my Soulsinger deck (or token Nath of the Giltleaf)... Vendilion Clique is getting booring and soon people will start hate sideboarding (there are now 3 Clique decks playing and another two Clique decks in construction). I think I have the most powered Clique deck but a Clique vs Clique matchup is a boring game (yet very stressful) to play.

They allow a 10 card sideboard. Do you know how many anti-counterspell hosers there are? I'm not even talking about the flagship hosers like Choak or Boil (which are both GG) but the marginal stuff like Defense Grid or City of Solitude. You don't need an anti-blue deck when you can mainboard 3-4 anti-blue stuff maindeck and another 5 sideboard (and just sideboard out the anti-blue stuff when you play vs a non-blue deck).
People just haven't figured out how to take advantage of the anti-blue sideboard cards that are accessible. I would say many of my opponents don't even show up with a sideboard (really, you can't find 10 good cards vs a deck subtype?).
I have like none of the cards for Uril. Both Nath and Soulsinger are very tuned at the moment and will go at least 3-1.

Vendilion Clique: a gay card for any format! So, I went 3-1 again only this time I ended up 2nd. Round 1 vs Radha, Heir to Keld Counter everything! I bribary and help myself to Kozilek turn 5. Obviously, he can't take it down and he resigns. Round 2 vs resignation The opponent (the store owner) needed to take a call and thus resigned. GG! Round 3 vs Vendilion Clique Well, it begins again. I was winning and two turns away from victory and then I got into a counter war (that I won) and played Pact of Negation... Forgot to pay and I lost. Retete Round 4 vs Urabrask the Hidden He literally sideboards out hit gigantic creatures and boards in 9 anti-blue spells. In the end it doesn't help him when I bribery an Inferno Titan and proceed to beat down. He had more of a chance but a counter wall just shuts you down. ------------------------------------------------- Additionally, they are going to start up an EDH league Saturday evenings where Clique is banned. They aren't sure if it'll be 1v1 or not, but I'm going to make Nath into a beatdown machine... It'll be SIIICK!

I'm sure there are plenty of other mono-blue generals you could use instead of the Clique. Teferi, Venser, Jin, Azami, etc would probably all work.
