Anyone going to cards tonight? I might be at Misty after 6:30. You can call/text me after work hours to check.

Hey all, hope everyone had a good holiday. Mine was full of bacon and Bond movies. But I digress...who's up for some cards this weekend? Jenna will be up north for the Packer/Viking game all weekend, so my house is totally free for hosting cards, or I can also visit someone else if need be. Unfortunately, I have a 30th birthday party on Thursday night, but I should be free the rest of the weekend. Let me know if anyone wants to play some cards!

Happy Holidays to you all too. I think I'm probably game for some draft or sealed if someone organizes it. The last two times I tried I got about 20 text messages saying peeps were busy. As always during the day and not the evening would be preferred (maybe Saturday?) I'd also still like to get a LAN going if others are interested

I'd also still like to get a LAN going if others are interested I think Saturday during the day would work for me as well. I can host if necessary - as long as it's not before noon, the house should be free. As for the format - I'm open to suggestions. Drafting RTR is always a good time, or we could try out some more Pauper EDH (I still have three or four decks built for that), or just regular EDH is always good.

So, to recap, John is available earlier (noon-ish), Andrew is available after 3, Scott is available all day, Zach is a maybe (c'mon, man!) and all three Ryans are unavailable. No word yet from Pat or Nick.
If I'm missing anyone, it's an open invitation, so just show up anytime after noon.
I'm fine with starting whenever. John and I can jam some standard games until the rest of the crew get there. If we get up to six people, we can try to draft. Otherwise, we can just do standard/EDH.

Sounds good to me. I'd be for sure up for drafting so hopefully we could corral enough. Nick is out of town visiting friends.
Who all else besides who you mentioned have you contacted? I could see if Steven is available and there's 2-3 others from the shop that I have numbers for.
Alternatively there is a standard $500 tourney in manitowoc. . . I've been tempted but probably would only go if 1-2 others wanted to carpool

Depends on how I'm feeling later tonight. I've been sick since christmas. I'm feeling reasonably better but not completely better.
As fas as standard is concerned I've really been wanting to build that ramp to big stuff deck. I've got over half the deck already and it looks hilariously fun.

That's basically everyone. If there's someone else you have in mind, that's fine. Depends on how I'm feeling later tonight. I've been sick since christmas. What parts are you missing?

Pat sorry to hear that dude, you get some rough colds and I hope you're feeling better as well.
If you are referring to the Omniscience deck I saw it in action last Friday and it went 3-1 at Mox Mania. Seemed very powerful aside from being weak to countermagic (probably just need to strengthen the board plan). If you're referring to more of a Hoof, there it is or Angel ramp build, the ones I've practiced with on Cockatrice have been fairly bleh so I'd be curious to see your approach.
SPEAKING of Standard, since the people seem skimpy already and the 3 of us are in this discussion, would you two have a possible interest in Manitowoc depending on Pat's Health? I know Travis (and this goes for all of us) that you prefer to have a lot more practice with a deck before you play it, but I'll tell ya that these tournaments have been really fun. The format of this one is similar to the one I top 8'd a few weeks back and I've been playing two standard tournaments a week for 3 weeks so I can give you guys a pretty good pulse on the format. The local meta has just about every archetype represented surprisingly and I've been doing a ton of testing on cockatrice. If you guys are interested it wouldn't be that bad, the drive is like 2 hours more or less and the entry is either $30 or $35 with $500-800~ payout to the top 8 and some packs for top 16. I went up there for a sealed tourney a few months ago and they have a nice place and nice staff.
I'm guessing Travis you might have some of the cards Pat needs since your collection has been growing immensely and if its just a few cheapies I'd probably be willing to spring for it if it meant having you guys onboard.
Let me know, if it's a total crapshoot I'm still down for the meetup tomorrow at Travis's but I would love to crush some more face in Standard. My combined record with RDW over the last month is 15-6 in rounds.

What time would we get back from this thing? I made some dinner plans at about 6:30 tomorrow night, so I'd need to be back by then.
I also still need 2 or 3 Huntmasters for the Human Reanimator deck.
I have at least one or two Omniscience and a full set of duals (though I might be using some of them myself). I don't have a lot of big Standard rares like Thragtusk, Geist of Saint Traft, Huntmaster, Angel of Serenity, Jace, Thundermaw, either Garruk, Tamiyo, or Sphinx's Revelation.

Yeah probably wouldn't work out then, Google maps says 2 hr 25 min drive which I think was pretty accurate last time and the tourneys usually end around 4-6pm depending on entrants. Was just a thought, I think if I hear back from more people online about it I still might be interested in going but we'll see.
Just out of curiosity, if Andrew wasn't available until 3pm and you have dinner at 6:30 how are we supposed to draft?

Yeah was referring to the omniscience deck. I'm missing a number of cheap cards and only a couple expensive ones--> main problem is I'm missing 3 sphinx's revelations.
I have two jace, two thragtusk, two angel of serenity, two tamiyo, and two garruk relentless sitting around all of which could easily be played in the omniscience deck. From the videos I watched of it in action, I'd imagine the most difficult match ups would be rakdos and rdw post board and control with plenty of counter magic. I think the guy playing the deck goes overboard on life gain in the board, he probably only needs about half of what he plays in it and the rest should probably be devoted to control.

dude yeah Pat the sideboard to that deck is hilarious if it's similar to the one the guy ran at Mox Mania. He had like 4 Thragtusk, 4 Rhox Faithmender, 4 Centaur Healer, etc, etc, lol. Probably need some anti-control elements. That said, I've been beating down people with half to 2/3 of that stuff in their deck, so the lifegain is very much needed in heavy doses. Right now, Rhox Faithmender is easily the hardest card for my deck to deal with and the best one (especially in conjunction with thragtusk or centaur healer). I made a comment the other day about it at the tournament and promptly watched a bunch of people jam it in there sideboard So I didn't go to Manitowoc, was going to be too expensive and couldn't get a carpool. Travis I'll pop by around 12:15-1:00 ish and we can start playing some crads. It'd be really cool if we could draft, especially since I have 3 packs from prizes earlier this month, but if not I'm game for Standard + EDH
