So, I was picking up the last of the random RDW stuff from the South Phoenix store and they had 7 men registered for a draft. Obviously, I needed to man up and fill it up Went 2-0 with draw the finals. The sweet deck: x3 Centaur's Herald Giant Growth x2 Concordia Pegasus x2 Druid's Deliverance Soul Tithe Vitu-Ghazi Guildmage Security Blocade x2 Common Bond Centaur Healer Seller of Songbirds Sunspire Griffin Rootborn Defenses x4 Eyes in the Skies Phantom General Chorus of might Knightly Valor 8x Plains 8x Forest Relevent SB: Aerial Predation x2 Keening Apparition Horncaller's Chant Golgari Longlegs Rubbleback Rhino Azorius Arrester Druid's Deliverance 3x Axebane Stag Transguild Promenade 2x gatecreeper Vine Pretty much, it was infinite tokens. Typical hand would curve out with herald -> nothing -> 3/3 Centaur -> Eyes in the Skies -> proceed to beatdown step. My 2nd round opponent was running Azorius with splash black. Game 3 he had Swamp, Pack Rat and no extra land (he mulled it away). Awkward I curved near perfectly that game with Herald > Concordia Pegasus > 3/3 Token > Aerial Predation his Hover Barrier > Eyes in the Skies > Druid's Deliverance to his his 2/2 Knight with populate then another Druid's Deliverance EOT for another 3/3 followed up with Chorus of Might for fatal.

I drafted with Uttke at Pegasus on Friday night. My first four picks were Hypersonic Dragon, then Annihilating Fire (over Augur Spree), then Augur Spree, then another Augur Spree. In pack two, I opened a Supreme Verdict and promptly said goodbye to the two Sprees. I got passed a Skymark Roc and a Lyev Skynight, along with some other good Azorius cards. Finally, in pack three I opened an Angel of Serenity, and that pretty much sealed the deal. My deck ended up something like this: 4 Island 4 Plains 4 Mountain 2 Izzet Gate 2 Azorius Gate 1 Transguild (17)
1 Hypersonic Dragon 1 Angel of Serenity 1 Supreme Verdict 2 Annihilating Fire
1 Explosive Impact 1 Trostani's Judgment 1 Dramatic Rescue 1 Azorius Charm 2 Doorkeeper 2 Frostburn Weird 1 Skymark Roc 1 Skyline Predator
1 Lyev Skyknight 1 Syncopate 1 Runewing 1 Voidwielder
...plus 4 other filler cards I can't remember right now.
I won the first round 2-0 easily vs a terrible Rakdos deck (he showed me Bellows Lizard and the Tavern Swindler that flips coins to gain life).
In round 2, I faced a good player with a good Golgari deck. He had double Assassin's Strike, plus he was splashing white for Collective Blessing. My deck had a lot of removal for his Scavenges and a lot of exile effects, so I should have been a heavy favorite. However, he managed to resolve Collective Blessing in both games, and I promptly lost both at that point. The rest of the match simply didn't matter.
In round 3, I faced a Bant deck with double Doorkeeper and a lot of defender creatures. I won this round 2-0 with relative ease. He was main-phasing Hussar Patrols the whole time, and I baited him into really bad Supreme Verdicts.
In summary, I opened three good rares, got passed lots of removal, and won every game except for the ones with Collective Blessing. My three prize packs contained a Temple Garden and a second Supreme Verdict, so at least I made good money on the night.

I don't think Supreme Verdict is enough to change colors pack 2 (it may be worth rare-drafting). This is already true because you were drafting a R/B/u deck.
This shows up in you having 7 playable creatures. Doorkeeper is horrible (and you are playing 2!?).
Need more info on the 10 filler cards...

There might have been a Runewing in there somewhere, and a Voidwielder. That's almost the full 40. To be fair, I only played the Doorkeepers in my final build because I wanted a couple of 0/4 walls to hold down the fort until I drew into one of my three bombs (Wrath, Angel, Dragon). At the start of pack 2, I only had the two Augur Sprees for black cards...everything else was Izzet, so it was very easy to switch. I also had picked up a random Azorius Guildgate in pack 1, which made it even easier. Also to be fair, I don't think black had any more answers to Collective Blessing than white did. Still, I think it was the right call to chuck the two black cards, especially after people started passing me more good Azorius. Regardless, this is a great format to draft, and I look forward to doing it again.

So, we did a four-man draft (me, John, Scott, Andrew) and I ended up passing all the good Golgari cards to John (Underworld Connections, Lotleth Troll, Deathrite Shaman, Dreg Mangler) in favor of a crappy Bant deck that won zero games. My first pick was unfortunately Axebane Guardian over Daggerdrone Imp and Underworld Connections. Right on cue, LSV makes me feel a little better with this draft video: www.channelfireball.com/articles/channel-lsv-rtr-draft-11/

They ran out of Theros at the store, so we played RGD draft. Pack one was strange, I picked up 4 guildgates and was planning G/W/U but hadn't committed very hard. Pack two I opened up Assemble the Legion and while I got some green, I primarily got good W/U in pack 2. So I switched to W/U/R in pack 3, except for the first pick because I money drafted the Desecration Demon rare (it's now worth $10!).
Ended up with a semi-aggro deck with a bunch of 2/x creatures with some flying. Mostly I had a bunch of draw/looting abilities to find me my bombs and/or answers to their cards. I had forgotten how good the black removal is in the format, but I prevailed and went 3-0 (the last guy didn't want to draw).

I guess the fact you can't make an army of tokens to sacrifice to him for cheap improved his fortune. I expect him to rise from $4 to $6 post rotation, nothing like what he's done! I didn't even realize he was that money until after the draft when I asked a friend for a price check.
