thanks for the cards yesterday Travis, hope you guys had fun with your tezzy decks. I'll be at Mox Mania tonight for Standard, you guys should jam it if you have a deck Sorry, I have another birthday party after work tonight. However, I did want to write up a brief recap of what went down last night. There were definitely some highs and lows on the evening. Highs: - Good to see both Pat and John playing Legacy. Hopefully we can get Andrew, Uttke, and some others involved as well. - Managed to find a deck with Jace, Force of Will, Underground Sea, and NO Tarmogoyfs. - The two packs I won contained a Supreme Verdict and an Angel of Serenity (thanks Pat for opening a bomb for me!) Lows: - I never really got to play a fair game of Magic. - My first opponent was playing Show and Tell, my 2nd and 3rd opponents were playing Storm combo, and my 4th round opponent was playing a deck that wasn't good enough for Standard FNM (think of all the bad Splicer cards from NPH that put 3/3 golems into play). I think I'm going to switch to a BUG Nic Fit list for next time. It should get a nice addition in Prime Speaker Zegana, and now I know that Pat has a pair of Thragtusks. I'll probably start with one of these: StarCityGames.com BUG Control A Legacy Magic deck, by Robert Pittman Artifacts 2 Sensei's Divining Top Artifact Creatures 3 Baleful Strix 2 Shardless Agent Creatures 1 Coiling Oracle 1 Consecrated Sphinx 2 Scavenging Ooze 2 Snapcaster Mage 4 Veteran Explorer Enchantments 3 Pernicious Deed Instants 2 Abrupt Decay 4 Brainstorm 4 Force of Will Planeswalkers 1 Jace, the Mind Sculptor Sorceries 4 Cabal Therapy 2 Maelstrom Pulse Basic Lands 4 Forest 2 Island 1 Swamp Lands 3 Bayou 4 Misty Rainforest 3 Tropical Island 1 Underground Sea 4 Verdant Catacombs Legendary Lands 1 Phyrexian Tower Sideboard: 3 Counterbalance 4 Leyline of the Void 1 Krosan Grip 1 Thrun, the Last Troll 1 Vendilion Clique 2 Jace, the Mind Sculptor 3 Thoughtseize // BUG Control by Jonáš Kozák // Exported from MTGPulse.com 1 Coiling Oracle 1 Consecrated Sphinx 1 Thragtusk 1 Vendilion Clique 2 Scavenging Ooze 3 Shardless Agent 4 Baleful Strix 4 Veteran Explorer 2 Abrupt Decay 3 Force of Will 4 Brainstorm 4 Cabal Therapy 3 Pernicious Deed 3 Jace, the Mind Sculptor 2 Sensei's Divining Top 1 Phyrexian Tower 1 Swamp 1 Volrath's Stronghold 2 Bayou 2 Island 2 Tropical Island 2 Underground Sea 3 Verdant Catacombs 4 Forest 4 Misty Rainforest // Sideboard: SB: 1 Force of Will SB: 1 Pernicious Deed SB: 2 Nihil Spellbomb SB: 3 Counterbalance SB: 1 Umezawa's Jitte SB: 1 Maelstrom Pulse SB: 2 Envelop SB: 2 Extirpate SB: 1 Flusterstorm SB: 1 Vendilion Clique

If someone has three Duskmantle Seers or two Huntmasters that I can borrow, I'll come to Standard. Otherwise, I'll have to stick with Cockatrice for now.

Why don't you just sub 2 kessig malcontents or cathedral sanctifiers? Not the end of the world and you can get some standard in. Most of the decks there aside from mono red are soft to reanimator

That's a reasonable idea.

Will be looking to legacy it up thursday... Travis do you have any godo bandit warlords? And can I borrow a batterskull and 3 chalice if you've got them?
Otherwise I'll be trying to pick some of this up tomorrow.
It's a slight change that has some interesting possibilities. I can get Godo out potentially turn 3 which means he's attacking twice for 7 lifelink turn 4. Also considering a cranial plating as a one of as well.
I'm also thinking about playing some revokers in the main. Jace is very bad for me and that more or less handles it. If they decide to swords that instead of something bigger, I'm ok with that. Plus there are more decent applications for it as well in particular wasteland, fetchlands, other artifacts like lions eye diamond, etc.

I have a Godo, not sure if I have two or three Chalices, but I'll bring what I do have.
My car went to the shop last night, hoping that it will be done by the time I get done working tonight so I can make it to Legacy in time. If I can't make that, I'll probably go to Misty for EDH. Either way, I've been informed that I "need" to go play next week Thursday, so I'll definitely be jamming some Legacy.

I've been informed that my house is going to be full of bridesmaids and other women on Thursday night, so I need to get out and play some cards. I'm up for either Legacy at Mox or Modern testing somewhere, or whatever. Anyone else?

I could use some serious testing both for standard and legacy, but I'm up for whatever.
I'm only semi interested in Modern Eggs (part cause it's relatively cheap), but I'd rather play cards like phantasmal image, reveillark, sun titan and Pod. So I'm not sure where that would put me... I don't have stuff for combo pod (I have 1 kikki Jikki and probably several exarch but no lands to support that coloration, I have no Melira cards either), is there any other kind of pod that is worthwhile right now?

Omfg Pat you will not play eggs! That deck is te friggin devil dude. Every round goes to time, you play against yourself for 50 minutes, and you have 1 silly win-con. I h8 that deck.

Yeah, Eggs is one of those retarded decks that people play because they don't want to interact with their opponent. It's like playing High Tide or Storm combo in Legacy. I could see the argument for taking it to one or two smaller weekly events just to try it out and understand how it works, but anyone who would legitimately claim that as a game of Magic is probably better off at home by themselves playing Solitaire.
Pat, if you really want a Modern deck, I can set you up with most of the stuff for the UW Titan deck that looks very similar to the UW Lark decks from back in the day.

I respect eggs. Pat, if you feel it's the best deck, go forth to purchase and kick ass with it.
John's comment about going to time is not true. It's bad Eggs players that go to time. I don't know if any of you watched the Return to Ravnica Pro Tour, Stanislav Cifka played that deck masterfully. There was zero hesitation and nothing missed.
My one warning is that if you play Eggs, you need to play it to that level to be competitive. Since the deck has minimal interaction, if you lose it's a fault of your own and can't really be attributed to the opponent.

I can't get behind a zero-interaction combo deck like that. The whole point of playing the game for me is the live interaction with your opponent. If I wanted to not interact with people, I'd go home and play Nintendo.
