So here is a list of the open events and some backround information: www.starcitygames.com/magic/misc/18325_Announcing_the_2010_StarCityGamescom_Open_Series_and_Invitational.html. The important thing to remember is you get a point just for showing up. And you need 10 points to qualify for the invitational Obviously, I want an invite and thus am going to make it to 10 tournaments (and since they hold 2 tournaments a weekend, that means 5 weekends). The ones closest to us are these: Indy, IN - 3/13-14 Philly, PA - 5/5-6 St. Louis, MO - 6/26-27 Minneapolis, MN - 8/28-29 Nashville, TN -10/16-17 If you make it to all 5 events and play in both events per weekend, regardless of ranking you get an invite to the invitational. Richmond, VA - 12/3-5 Anyone else up for some crazy road trips and an invite? ;D

I think that the Indy and Minneapolis trips are reasonable ones, but Philly/STL/Nashville are all a minimum of 8 hours away. That's a long way away, and would likely require an extra day dedicated to travel time. I dunno if I have that much vacation.

I make no bones about how much driving/time this is going to take. Getting an invite is going to be a PITA if you don't get top 8 in an open tournament.
On the other hand, I think an invite would be a good way to step up your game and play vs some pros. There will only be a few people that go to 10 tournaments to qualify and most of the people at the invitational will be top 8 from the qualifiers.
Travis, St. Louis is just as far as Indy (both time and milage). The two I don't really want to go to is Philly/Nashville because those are 8 hour drives.

I already posted this stuff in the Tournament Calendar thread, but oh well.
I'll probably be up for a few. St. Louis is more like a 6-7 hour drive, whereas Indy is only about 5 1/2 - 6. Both are doable but like Travis said you have to alot a good time, and leaving Friday early afternoon is preferable.

I would certainly be up for some road trips. No idea how it will work out this far in advance, but I'm definitely interested.
