Matt, I thought you and I should get in on this one. With extended getting "neutered" the way that it is, I feel that this is going to be a pretty solid deck after the October rotation of Time Spiral Block. Unfortunately with Tenth going out in that rotation, I had to find a new solution for the creature beefs. Here's what I've come up with so far.
4 Noble Hierarch
3 Qasali Pridemage
3 Dauntless Escort
4 Wilt-Leaf Liege
4 Cloudgoat Ranger
4 Path to Exile
4 Spectral Processions
3 Garruk Wildspeaker
3 Ajani Goldmane
2 Elspeth, Knight-Errant
2 Eldrazi Monument (Ohh yeah, this is the SHIT in this deck)
4 Wooded Bastion
4 Sunpetal Grove
3 Stirring Wildwood
3 Windbrisk Heights
6 Forest
4 Plains
Now, an explanation of a few of my card choices...
Wilt-Leaf Liege- This is effectively the new Glorious Anthem. Although it's going to be a lot easier to get rid of, it's going to be giving all of the usual buffs to most creatures, and an additional buff to Dauntless Escort, and Qasali Pridemage. It's also good against Jund... "Blightning?" "Card Advantage??" "Shiiit"
Eldrazi Monument- This card is CRAZY good in general. This is basically the 5th and 6th Glorious Anthem, with even more added benefits. This also makes Wilt-Leaf Liege harder to get rid of. Only a 2-of at the moment, because there's 8 planeswalkers in the deck.
Garruk- This guy is retarded. I'm not sure if he was in any of the original lists, but I love him in any deck that plays the color green. He ramps, gives you guys, and gives you the ability to get your guys through their blockers for an alpha strike.
Elspeth- Honestly, I don't know whether or not this is really necessary. Ajani is an obvious choice because of how many tokens there are, and how small of a threat they are on their own. But Elspeth is really good in the control (Potentially all things fae) matchup if you manage to get her out there. She's just a good white card, and I needed to fill a few slots.
Qasali Pridemage- Another thing that, IMO is going to help out in a lot of the matches where you aren't going to be able to get many creatures to stick around, whether it's because they're getting countered, or terminated. He and Noble Hierarch pair up to start dealing a pretty decent chunk of damage, and he's maindeck Bitterblossom removal... HOT.
Land- This is something that I feel I'm going to get grilled for. The first thing I'll go over is my Forest/Plains ratio. I know it's completely backwards from where it should be, based on the cards in the deck, but with 6 (potentially 10) CIPT lands, and Noble Hierarch, this will make my chances of a turn 1 untapped green source much better. Considering there are no others. The next thing is dropping Windbrisk Heights to 3, as well as the manlands... See explination number 1. The deck is too clunky with that many CIPT lands. Nuff said.
Sideboard- Still working on some ideas. Great Sable stag is a guarantee, along with Celestial Purge. Depending on the prevelance of red decks, maybe Kor Firewalker, I'd like some suggestions on this one.
Thoughts?
