I think I've addicted my neighbor on cardboard crack (aka: Magic the Gathering). We sat down with my EDH decks and played a bit (Sliver Overlord vs Razia).
I think he's going to get one or more of the Commander precon decks (Heavenly Inferno and Counterpunch last I heard). Is this good advice or to tell him to steer clear of these? I know Heavenly Inferno is going to be easy and reasonably cheap to power up.
And I'm not breaking out my Zur or Clique decks as of yet. Both are monstrosities that are not fun to play against (despite me liking playing Zur). I'll show him my Glissa the Traitor deck tomorrow.

HE'S ALIVE!!!!! Yeah, Heavenly Inferno is the easiest one to power up, IMO. And if Kalia gets a swing in, well... Ouch. The only awkward part is the mana base. You may have to hook him up with some of the ISD duals.

Is he going to be playing mostly 1v1? The precons are good for getting some staples of the format, but most of the generals are horrible for 1v1 environments.
Ruhan is probably my favorite for 1v1 or 2HG scenarios. Damia for multiplayer.

I would think that the precons are going to be better for multi-player than 1v1, but then again I have almost no experience playing the 1v1 part of the format.
I'd have to go with either RUG, BUG, or BWG colors for the multi-player part of it. Any of those three are very playable right out of the box, and there are enough solid format staples in each one that can be built upon in the future.

All the precons are great IMO. They all seem to capture the essence of EDH and you get some good staples. I think just the fact that you get Lightning Greaves and Sol Ring in each one makes it worth it.
I personally think the Mimeoplasm one is very strong. It's the best colors for EDH and you get some very solid Generals that can be used either 1v1 or Multiplayer. The Ghave deck also has some great cards / Generals.
Heavenly Inferno has the worst Generals IMO and colors that are more difficult to build in EDH. This is one I'd avoid if anything. I like Zedruu a lot better if you're going to work with difficult colors because it gives you some fun magic mechanics and some defensive cards like Ghostly Prison and Propaganda.
