So I'm itching to play something new in EDH. Either a General I haven't played before or making an all foil deck consisting of mostly commons and uncommons. Anyone have any ideas?

Couple of other random ideas I thought of...not sure if they would work for you or not, but it's something to try: - Ghost Council of Orzhova: You used to have a Teysa deck back in the day, maybe give this guy a shot. - Lyzolda, the Blood Witch: Black/red isn't the easiest combination to build around, but Lyzolda has some pretty neat synergies and is rather easy to build around. - Rafiq of the Many: I remember you always liked this guy.

I hate Rafiq in EDH. It's either an overdone bant deck that goes counter/draw with some beatdown or it uses Rafiq and ends up losing because of a stream of 1/1 cannon fodder that get thrown into the way of whatever your doublestrike behemoth is.
B/R, I don't know why this color combination is hard to build around but if you have any color + black = win.
Personally, I like Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer and I would think the deck would be easy to acquire and/or make it pimptacular if you wanted.

If you did Jor Kadeen, I assume that you would probably be staying away from various Swords and things, for cost purposes. I do have a foil Jor Kadeen, if you're interested.

Jor Kadeen sounds good in theory, but the best way to build him really is going to be focused on equipment. That would get pricey super fast.

Actually, Jor Kadeen is an awesome tokens deck. You play artifact mana accel and a bunch of token generators. Opponents lose quickly to 5 or 6 4/1 tokens (and both White and Red can pump out cheap 1/1 tokens as cannon fodder).
The equipment is secondary but you do need the obvious (swords, warhammer, greaves, and jitte).

I would start a Jor Kadeen list with the following: - Myr Matrix ($4) - Myr Turbine ($1) - Myr Battlesphere ($2) - Liquimetal Coating ($0.50) - Iron Myr ($0.25) - Gold Myr ($0.25)

Yeah this idea's been on the backburner for a while for me but I did consider Jor Kadeen for a bit with the myr plan. I think a metalcraft myr deck would be a cool build around idea and it seems like a stronger tribe than people give it credit for.

There actually aren't too many good Myrs out there for EDH. The Battlesphere is obviously cool, the mana dorks are OK because they could potentially get bigger, and the Matrix/Turbine are good ways to put bodies on the table. Other than that, the only other Myrs I would consider are the Propagator (if you can manage to untap with him, he might be OK) or the Retriever (a very solid card in an artifact-heavy deck). The rest of the Myrs are pretty bad.
