I'm really liking this set because it's looking to have a ton of EDH playables. The Rare lands are awesome, the common gate lands are ok (prob not playable but perhaps playable in a 2 color deck), they reprinted rupture spire except with a different name, and Chromatic Lantern looks interesting. The cycle of charms are ok, with some being really good. Plus we haven't even seen much of the set!

I'm really glad I kept my sets of shocks all this time.

I'm really happy I only have a few because I'm going to draft this set like none other and pick up a playset.

My boss wants me to work pre-release Saturday. If I turn him down depends on two things: 1) Is Wizards forcing people to play a specific guild at the pre-release? Or are color combinations up to the player? 2) Do you guys think the pre-release cards are worth anything?

It might depend on the shop but at least here in Madison you pick your own guild (Pegasus already had signups going). I'd imagine there will be some value to each guild's special pack but it can't be too crazy.
Isn't there a pretelease event there on Fri/sat/sun?

I know you pick your guild. The thing is after you pick your guild, are you committed to those colors? Or can you choose to play/splash other colors? Wizards typically pushes themes to make the pre-release/release more flavorful and it ends up ruining the game for me.
There should be one Friday and I'll go to it. Due to normal working hours, I will miss Sunday. If I work Sat, I'll miss that one too. I would like to go to as many pre-release events as possible, but I also want OT. I'm just weighing my options on how good the pre-release will be vs getting paid.

Upon further review, it would seem that they don't have a pre-release on Friday. So I had to have a conversation with my boss to get Saturday off.
