So I'm bored! Is starting to try out EDH tourneys, they had their first one today. We got 7 people, probably would have been more had there not been short notice and a parade going on outside but was a lot of fun. It was $5, we did two pods, one with three people (that I was in) and another with 4. I won my Pod and got 1 pack for each person killed and 2 packs for taking down the pod. We had a fun game though, it wasn't unbalanced and I only killed them off after some massive counter / wrath battles ensued. The other pod had one guy playing a semi degenerate arcum daggson deck and it looked like he kind of locked up the table but after the tourney was over we mixed up the pods and played a bunch of games for fun. Everyone there was pretty agreeable, there wasn't anything totally broken going on and I think our group would have a really good time if they do it again. The only person getting salty was unfortunately the organizer, but his deck kind of sucked and he didn't realize it. One of our games a mana flare hit the table and lets just say two time warps later this happened (tokens represent copies)-

Interesting. Let me know if they run one again. It might be worth the drive.
Any house rules to be aware of?

Gren (not sure who you are?) the place is actually called "I'm Bored" and is in Middleton near the westside of Madison- www.imboardgamestore.com . Its a shop that opened a few months ago and is so far aiming to have a more casual scene for board games and mtg. The owner was friendly but all of their magic events are run by a guy named Lance who is a local player. Andrew no house rules so far, it was their first tourney for EDH and very impromptu. We all had a discussion before the games on how we wanted to play and it was pretty much similar to our group. The organizer is a VERY casual player so he was stressing to keep it that way (which I'm fine with and prefer for edh but he was also getting very temper-tantrum frustrated when his deck wasn't working and we had to explain to him how his own cards worked). All that aside, everyone was enjoying themselves and were definitely the kind of group that just wanted to play some magic and have fun. I don't think any of us were running dual lands and even in games that got more competitive it was balanced. People seemed agreeable to doing it again and the store owner and organizer expect a better turnout next time. I also mentioned that some of my friends would probably come, just didn't this time due to the newness/short notice and such (I found out about it at legacy yesterday)

Yeah, if I hadn't rolled out of bed so late on Sunday, I would have definitely done this. That being said, it's gonna be a little harder now that football season is coming up.
