Hey all,
I'm gonna be out of town Friday-Sunday, but I still have several Legacy decks sleeved up and ready to go. If anyone would like to do battle with the likes of Maverick, UR Delver, Nic Fit, or Dredge, let me know and I can loan you the deck.
Also, mostly for my own reference, I'm missing the following cards for these other popular Legacy decks: - Esper Stoneblade: 1 Jace TMS, 1 Vindicate - UW Miracles: 1 Jace, TMS, 1 Counterbalance, 1 Vendilion Clique - UR Delver: X Submerge (where X is however many one would choose to put in the board), X Sulfuric Vortex, 1 Price of Progress, 3 Chain Lightning

I'm likely going to hit up the Saturday Legacy event at Misty tomorrow, if anyone would like to join me.

Went to play legacy on saturday with some welder mud. Played against nic fit, show tell, evan's junk deck, and delver
Nic fit didn't stand a chance against multiple tangle wires hitting the board. Those kept him out of it until I could land a threat which basically just won the game.
Show and tell I didn't realize what she was playing until game two as game one I just played out threats and lodestone golems that she couldn't handle. She did counter poorly with her force of will though electing to remove daze which would have worked out better for her in the long run, but I'm pretty sure I had enough follow up threats. Waste land took out her only red source for sneak attack.
Game two went turn one metalworker for me sitting on a pile of artifacts in hand. Her next turn went show and tell--->she picks emrakuul, I pick Mindslaver. Yes that just happened.... I take my turn crack mindslaver and play out a forgemaster. I take her turn crack some fetches and fail to find, blow up a lotus petal and bounce my grim monolith with whatever bounce spell she had leaving her with griselbrand in hand. I forgemaster in a spine of ish and take care of emrakul followed by her scooping to a turn later blight steel colossus.
Played against evan after that. His deck is solid and I don't have a ton of answers to a lot of his early drops, removal and disruption. I did get game two with a cheetey boots blight steel colossus. Game three was funny. I mulled to five, he stripped me of just about everything from my hand except for wurmcoil engine. Then I top decked ancient tomb number 2 and 3 to painfully play my wurmcoil engine. I did not pull anything else that mattered and he eventually took over hitting a swords to plow shares. Had him at 3 life.
Round 4 delver just steam rolled me and again ancient tomb became a liability.
Things learned My deck needs more wurmcoil or at the very least more ways to get life back or lock my life total-platinum emperion perhaps? My deck also needs more ways to handle quick delver like decks probably combination of powder keg and ratchet bomb I would also love some way to get some more card advantage that doesn't simultaneously help them out perhaps something like staff of nin. I don't know what else would be good.
Alterations needed but not likely to get for quite some time- mox opals over 2 lotus petals and city of traitors over crystal vein.
Main deck smokestack doesn't seem worthwhile so far either but tangle wire was exceptional

Congrats Pat, 2-2 with an almost 3-1 finish is pretty solid for your first Legacy affair at Misty. I could probably help you with the Delver practice since that's what I borrowed from Travis last time.
I think the card additions you mentioned seem reasonable, another thought that comes to mind is Bottle Gnomes since it works well with Welder, although Platinum Emperium is probably better

Are you already running faithless looting? Seems like a solid fit in Welder Mud.
Staff of Nin is not terrible in MUD, seeing as how you can make tons of mana pretty fast. It might be too cute, but Chromatic Star/Sphere might work out as a welder target or mana filter that draws a card. Just throwing that one out there as I'm not sure how "good" it would actually be in practice.

Yeah he's already running looting. I'd consider running phyrexia's core over something (crystal vein?) as there's a lot of STPs running around, and being able to turn welder on seems decent. It feels like there should be something better then lotus petal to run, but I can't really say what =P.
Cheers

Pat, i have two city of traitors you can borrow anytime.
You might try looking for ideas in the star city games deck database. Just do a search for legacy decks with metalworker in them and you'll find some. If you are willing to try new colors, baleful strix and new tezzeret are pretty sick (and I have them all at home).
I have a full UR delver deck at home, and I can also proxy up rug or bug delver.

Yeah, that's what I'm doing. I'm going to proxy up a new deck I'm thinking of playing; hoping trying a few games with it will help me decide if I should get the $1500 worth of cards I need to make it =p.
Cheers
