I've seen a few decks in this format on various forums before, but I've never really thought to put one together. I guess it would be similar to the $50 limit in that it would require a group of people to participate. I'd be all for it.

I'm all for it. I like the rules that article puts down, along with the banned commanders (+invisible stalker, mentioned in the comments).

I just have a feeling that at 30 life in a 1v1, a R/B burn deck is the best idea. If we can't use Redcap, I think Hellhole Flailer looks good for the part.

There should be an additional rule that every time you cast/activate that card, you have to flail around uncontrollably. That being said, if others wanna do this, I'll start brewing. EDIT: Good resource here: forums.mtgsalvation.com/forumdisplay.php?f=712

I'll brew as well, but I want to nail down the rules we'll be going with. I prefer the guidelines set down in the CFB article over what I'm seeing on MTGS. The salvation subforum just seems to be all over the place on what people prefer.
Uncommon creature as commander, commons for the other 99.
The following creatures are banned as commanders: Shriekmaw, Murderous Redcap, Psychatog, Bloodbraid Elf, Eternal Witness, Invisible Stalker
Sound good?

I might put together a list for this. Sounds decent.
Cheers

I finally actually read the article (after posting it lol) and this does seem like a lot of fun and a good use for all the commons and uncommons sitting around in my house.
Anyone up for doing some of this on Thursday? Ryan Ornstein and I were talking about getting together somewhere for cards, he mentioned I'm bored although I know they have a board game night, not sure if they would mind us stopping in, otherwise I'd like to try that Mox Mania place on Odana Road.
My only worry with the format is the lack of wraths, something we discussed before. But maybe there's not too much to worry with there since the power level of creatures isn't as great

Most board wipes are going to be damage based, while spot removal will probably have a higher value as well.

Are you guys going to play duels or multiplayer with this format? I might get in if you are planning duels.

As far as color identity goes, if a creature is mono-colored but has activated abilities that cost other colors, can you play any of those colors in your deck? The article seems to suggest that you can but I was never sure about that for commander in general

Yes. Generals are now based on color identity, meaning any color that appears in the casting cost or text box is legal in your deck. That's why cards like Memnarch and Thelon of Havenwood are acceptable commanders now.
For example, the battlemages or the creatures from Shards block with the WUBGR activation costs would allow you to play each of the colors that appear in the text box.
