Just a heads up, I'm not sure how many of you have been over to Mox Mania on Odana Road but they have a pretty good shop going so far.
The guy who runs it, Mike, is pretty nice and agreeable and he has a store like Dan that he's run online for a long time. He sells through TCG Player and buys cards in the store at prices that are pretty close to online buylist (aka Channel Fireball, TrollandToad, etc). I sold a Thundermaw Hellkite in there last week for $15.50 when the buy price on CFB was $17.50. Recent Ebay selling has not provided to fruitful with all their changes, government regulations, and public interest. I think from now on in the future if I have to ditch a card, it's probably going local to Mike.
They've been hosting a lot of weekly tournaments, which have been getting a good turnout and they have the space for it. I think their schedule is-
Monday - Draft Thursday - Legacy Friday - Standard
All start at 6:30pm
Just a heads up to those of you who haven't been

Shrug, I've always thought Dan was pretty close to online buylists as well. For example, he's buying hellkites at $15.

Eh I have to disagree strongly. I've sold thousands of cards to Dan over the years and his prices are almost always sigificantly lower and have been particularly worse as of late. There's a few select cards he might be competitive on, but for the most part much less. Case in point, I took in a collection of singles last year to Dan, him and his staff go over the cards and offer me $150. I walked out as this was just a lot lower than I was willing to deal with, I brought the same collection to the SCG Open that weekend and they offered me $250. Granted, most places pay higher buy prices at tournaments or events, but still, a $100 difference.
The same thing has happened with a good dozen or so cards recently I sold. Plus, the guy Mike at Mox Mania is 1000% nicer than Dan

Oh, in person he will f you if you don't know how much you want. I meant his posted buylist. I always get dan to buy my cards at good prices but i know all of his buylist prices and how much I want. He bought all my zendikar lands at .50 when everyone else is paying .25 or less.
Cheers

I guess I'm not sure what you mean. Typically cards I sell to Dan are not "hot rares" and anytime I've gone in and tried to sell cards based on Dan's online buylist prices he has said that he doesn't go by that in person or the cards were not on it. His crew never is willing to go up when I try to negotiate the price, up to the point where I've walked out as mentioned. I think Evan that you have a slight insider's track because you have access to the updated buylist on Misty's computer and sell cards at the shop for Dan, which I assume gives you a little more leverage over his online buylist. I've been selling cards to Dan since I was a little tot and been getting ripped off constantly. I'm not saying its not helpful to occasionally be able to liquidate cards to him but I've never seen the type of stuff you're talking about unless you have something more concrete here I can go off of?

If by updated buylist you mean the buylist he posts that is open to the public at powernine.com/buylist then yes . BTW, we are always willing to pay his posted buylist prices if the condition is good. Shrug, not sure what is different for you...basically any time I see him buying cards from people he's willing to move on some stuff. There's a fair amount of stuff he has plenty of that he isn't willing to go higher on though. Cheers
