It begins again: www.mtgsalvation.com/m14-spoiler.htmlStarting off this new set with some goodies. - New mythic Archangel and Demon look pretty cool. - Green gets another piece of creature removal. - Vastwood Hydra seems like a great card for EDH. Unfortunately, they reprinted Scavenging Ooze as a non-mythic. So much for that investment I made.

Personally, I'm glad to see ooze at rare. That should make it easier to pick up foils of the little guy.

Yeah, but those of us who shoved money into him for Maverick back in the day are probably taking a hit.

True, but you really can't expect that any post-reserved list card will never be reprinted. Ooze is just a couple years old and the only thing that drove up its secondary market price was the fact that it was in a relatively short-printed specialty product and was found to be useful in a format.
In terms of power level, it's really not that insane. It was perfectly reasonable to expect a reprint at some point. I'm honestly a little shocked it took this long to slip it into a set.
EDIT: I do admit it sucks to have the value of any card tank because of a reprint. However, I would not expect ooze to dive like nantuko shade (random example). It is played in competitive decks and will actually be in more demand because it certainly will be modern playable.

Core sets, now with new shitty cards that will never see play! Unlike old core sets where they just reprinted shitty cards...

I can't see this being playable even in EDH. Blue has so much awesome, why would it bother with this?
I never understood the idea of 'the kitchen table' when people bring up cards like this. Is it really so onerous to throw down $100 on a serious deck to play? Fires costs $70 including the shock lands (less if you go with the original pain lands). I would bet that modern robots is under $100 (or slightly over due to the lands, I can't find a good decklist at the moment). If you want to play and don't have a grand to throw down on a top flight deck, there are older decks that lack some of the power but still allow competitive casual play.

Definitely a fan of Primeval Bounty - that card will find a home in at least one of my EDH decks. My Wort deck will love the Young Pyro and Sporemound. Sharuum got a new artifact tutor (but it's kinda slow). Yeva (and maybe Chainer) will like the new Staff cycle.
What do you mean by the new titan cycle?

Eh, little mini titans (not so good so far) based on their respective planeswalker-

I have a love/hate relationship with the new art. It's just not very pretty and thus I wouldn't collect the cards unless they do this very rarely and very well done. The only thing it's going for it is that it's a striking departure from previous magic card artwork.
Any ideas on what the promo will go for? I'm tempted to go out to Comic Con (only a 6 hour drive each way) but I'm not a big con person and thus would only be showing up for the promo. If it will cost less than $30 to ebay it, I'll likely skip the drive and only pick it up online.

I think the art looks insanely awesome. I saw Dan Bock post this and didn't realize it was something actually being done, o thought it was someone's Deviant Art or something. Super cool concept.
Chris I'm pretty sure this is a "set-based" thing, Wizards rarely makes that strong of art changes on a permanent basis. Great promotional aspect for M14 though
