I'm going to a birthday party downtown, so I'm out.

Fridays are one of the absolute worst days for me for testing, but I'll try and make it if I can. Are you guys going earlier or later? (earlier would be preferred).

I'd like to do it earlier, I have no other plans for tonight so I might just show up at Netherworld anyway.

Anyone else feel like we should try to make it to a second Extended PTQ? I am starting to feel like we would have a lot more positive results if we had put in the prep time like we did for States...

When is the next one? I'm considering going to the Midwest Masters in MN in two weeks.

Yeah. Definitely should have switched decks with you, John. Or let me play Boros so you could play Restore Balance.

Yeah. Definitely should have switched decks with you, John. Or let me play Boros so you could play Restore Balance. Agreed, last-minute deck switch would have been pro. I want another crack at Extended. I played a few games with my BRW Scepter list and it is working much MUCH better. I feel a road trip coming...

Would anyone else be interested in testing some time this week? Bowling is no longer on Wednesdays, so I could do just about any day this week.

You know, I wouldn't mind setting up a regular playtesting day. Something where we'd know at least some of us would meet up to play even if others have work and such. Wednesday night is actually fine by me now that bowling is over, otherwise thursday is a possibility too. Fri-Sun is bad as there's almost always something going on over the weekend.
If we are all legitimately interested in the Minnesota PTQ and if people are up for making travel/accommodation arrangements ahead of time, count me in.
As far as deck, I'm going to brainstorm over the next week or two and figure out what I want to play. But by March 1st, I'm going to officially decide my deck choice so that not only can I get copious amounts of playtesting and tweaking in, but also so that I can lend cards to whoever needs them without having to do takebacks.
Travis I actually like that scepter deck that Adrian designed and you've been messing with. Other than x3 Isochron Scepter and x4 Dark Confidant (bob), I should have the rest of the list. How is your matchup vs. Thopter-Depths though? And I assume Zoo is alright?
Matt, I don't think switching would have done much. While I was 3-1-1 before losing and dropping, the deck was horribly inconsistent. It also wasn't great against zoo, and the opponent that I lost to in the 6th round was discussing that heavily with me. I think the deck is "competitive" but it's not stable enough to be a reliable tourney choice IMO. I think Peter Brozek had more of the surprise factor on his side, and now that the cat's out of the bag the deck is just OK.
I don't think I particularly agreed with your zoo build, I'll try to run some ideas by you if you want that I think might help a bit. I've been talking with a lot of zoo players over the last few weeks including Stephen who won the last Minnesota PTQ with zoo.
**EDIT: Scratch the building of Scepter. Didn't realize I was missing a lot of pricey cards actually.

Yeah, I think Wednesday or Thursday would be the best days. Maybe we should start out by just going to Misty on Thursday and try to squeeze some Extended games in with the EDH people.
EDIT: I actually cut Bob for Phyrexian Arena from my most recent list, because he only survived long enough to draw me a card in one game out of six matches (over 15 games), and that extra draw power is extremely vital to me. I'm even considering cutting Lightning Bolt for Magma Jet, although that's just another idea.

Just in glancing at hotel prices, there are some reasonable hotels in eden prarie for $52 a night. Assuming we'd be staying fri/sat and 4 of us going, hotel ($104) + gas ($70-80) + tourney entry ($25 x 4) would be about $68 per person + the cost of food. Assuming people started saving say. . . next week. . . it'd be about $17 per week until the weekend of the tourney.
Just throwing it out there if that does become a reality. I'm pretty sure that if we didn't get 4 of us onboard I'd not be interested as the cost just becomes too outrageous when it's only 2 people.

Did another check of hotels, the Days Inn in Burnsville is only $43 a night. For two nights and four people that's only $21.50 + tax per person. I'd say that's pretty darn reasonable for a Minneap trip
