Hey guys,
A couple of things. First, I want to organize 2-3 playtesting days over the course of this week and the next. The Madison PTQ is Saturday, February 20th (two weekends from now). Netherworld tends to be the best place to test due to it being a midpoint for most of us, although I know for Zach and Karl it's easier to test at Misty. Also, the gf is going to NYC in a few days, so I'll have the place to myself and we could get some magic going over at my crib. It's a little easier there because we'll have access to all my cards so we can finalize deck decisions, get official borrowlists up, and talk deck ideas, etc.
So here's what I propose, please holler back with input on which days work better for everyone. I'll probably show up regardless to the following just because I know diff days will work for diff people, but let me know.
Tuesday (Tomorrow) Feb 9th - i'm gonna suggest we playtest at Misty, as there will be people there for Standard so we might be able to get more games in then otherwise at a rushed Netherworld planning. I know many of you still have the urge to play Standard, but I suggest taking a break just for a week or so because the format is incredibly stale, barely anyone goes to those Misty ones anymore, and the extended PTQ is in our hometown.
This Weekend - I don't care when we do it, but sometime either Thursday, Friday, or Saturday we should playtest at my house. Sunday is Valentine's Day and I have to drive to pickup the gf, so that's when the window pretty much comes to a close for the magic for a bit. I wanted to do a Thursday night playtesting session, but I know a lot of people said they couldn't make it and Chris mentioned EDH at Misty which would actually be a lot of fun. So I'm thinking either Friday night or Saturday early afternoon. Lets face it, nobody does anything early on Saturday other than chores or sleep in, we might as well get a Noon playtesting session of Magic going and actually prepare a bit for this tournament.
Next Thursday Feb 18 - I propose we do this at Netherworld. It's right before the PTQ, it's a midpoint for everyone, Jim will probably keep the store open very late, and it'll be a good last salvo to try and get some actual testing games in so we can iron out those last few sideboard cards/ideas or take our deck in a different direction if it's just not getting the job done.
Ite guys let me know. We had great prep for States, and while I don't expect quite the same results in the Extended events, it'll still be worthwhile to give it a shot. Oh and Chris, I know funds are tight but you should still playtest with us. I could probably swing your entry fee this time around if you contribute to our testing as we could use the extra person and I'd like to see any of us do well after working so hard for it. Plus it's the Madtown PTQ, we gotta represent
Whoops, forgot the new deck idea. I'm working on something involving wrath effects, Ghostly Prison, and the new Red Propaganda creature. I'll let you guys know more when I've actually ironed out a list.
