Hey all,
So I am working on a trade with an individual online who wants three cards from me: - Jace, Memory Adept - Mox Opal - Molten-Tail Masticore Total price comes to about $50-55 on each of the different sites that I use to check prices.
This guy has a number of money cards available for trade, and I'm having a hard time deciding which ones to ask for. He has the following stuff in his inventory: - 2 Primeval Titan ($15) - 2 Koth of the Hammer ($20) - 4 Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas ($20-25) - 1 Garruk, Primal Hunter ($25) - 1 Gideon Jura ($16) - 1 Vendilion Clique ($35)
So, the question is which of these will hold its value best? I'm pretty sure V-Clique is the most stable card, but the rest all seem very similar. Any thoughts or advice on what to take would be very nice.

Can't go wrong with the Primetime, but the planeswalkers Koth and Tezzeret should remain where they are at for a while until they cycle out those sets and even then they shouldn't drop much if any at all.

I'd probably lean towards Tezzeret. He has the greatest potential to see play in post-rotation T2. I think UB Tezz decks have some potential. With that in mind, I'd probably hang on to opals, unless you already have a set.
I think Prime Time is going to drop post-rotation, since Valakut is gone. He'll be under $10 by December, much like BSA was after Titans were printed.
Garruk regularly goes for under $20 on ebay, Gideon has 2 printings now, and I really can't see Koth taking off. I'm not sure how good RDW will be without Goblin Guide.
As for Clique...Modern is far too unstable right now to speculate. It's had one major tournament and no others planned, plus I think a lot of people are shying away from it until Wizards does something to fix the format. I'd only trade for that if you are hoping to leverage it for a bigger card. Although, you'll find people rather unwilling to trade stuff like duals for Cliques.
EDIT: Was looking up Cliques on ebay, and they've tanked in value. Sitting at $20-25, rather than $35 (which I'm sure you're pulling off a store's site)

complete agreement with Andrew. Tezzerret if anything will go up in value as it looks to be a strong deck contender in the future and has seen play in older formats.

Any of the walkers. Honestly think VClique has peaked; I could see it going down in the future. Most of the walkers have room to move up.
Cheers

I submitted an offer for two Tezzerets. It's a little awkward because Jace is about $30 and most of his walkers are in the 20-25 range, so Jace is worth considerably more than one of them, but far less than two. More to follow.

New trade question: - A guy on iTrader offered me a Karakas that he claims is NM. He says it sat in a box with bad cards like Amrou Kithkin and Goblin Shrine for years, until he realized that it was worth something and sleeved it up. - He wants the following from me: 2 Scalding Tarn 4 Weathered Wayfarer 4 Ad Nauseam 1 Wild Research 1 Fireblast 2 Beastmaster Ascension 3 Harmonize 1 Basilisk Collar 1 Sigil of Distinction
The only two cards I care anything about are the two Tarns, which pale in comparison to a NM Karakas.
The issues I have are thus: - his iTrader rating is only 4, which is pretty low. Should I ask him to send first? - he said he probably won't be able to provide a scan as proof. Should I require this or just accept what he says?

If the tarn's weren't in there, I'd say it's worth the risk. Unfortunately, they are worth something and played in every format, whereas Karakas... Not so much. I'd ask him to send first.

Yeah, that's probably what I'll do. As long as he sends first, I'm not overly concerned about it.
I also managed to win a pair of eBay auctions for Italian Karakases's. Both look like they are NM or SP, and both cost me $33 each.

New trade: I give up 2 scalding tarns and some commons as filler for a hallowed fountain?

That one's kinda meh. You're giving up two cards that are played in every format, for one that is not. And that can be found by the latter.

I would avoid trading for shocks, unless you really need them like right now. A reprint still looks very likely in the near future. Especially if they really want to push modern.
Also, isn't Modern the current PTQ season? If that's the case, prices are higher now than they will be later in the year. I used to always buy extended in the later summer/early fall, because that's when it was usually the cheapest.

New trade question: I have a guy who wants one of my extra Karakas's. He has a Plateau, an EvT Elspeth, and some Noble Hierarchs. I really don't need the Plateau that much, but I could use one Noble to finish my set, and I do need an Elspeth. I'm wondering if it's worth trading down the Karakas for Elspeth and one or more Nobles, or if I should ask for the Plateau and something else.
