Just picked this diddy up- Spiraling Doom - $19.99And the following extras to possibly soup it up- 2 Beast Within 1 Sheoldred, Whispering One 3 Mortarpod 1 Spellskite 2 Sylvok Replica 2 Birthing Pod 4 Geth's Verdict 2 Glissa, the Traitor 2 Go for the Throat 3 Nihil Spellbomb 4 Smallpox 2 Tragic Slip 1 Viridian Corrupter I'm not going to be able to make Thursdays for EDH because my support group that Christy and I are doing changed schedules, but I should be able to make an occasional Tuesday Standard. I know B-Pod hasn't been seeing action lately, but this list just looked too sweet to pass up for $20 and is pretty close to what I ran back in the day (albeit a little more aggressive)

Seems pretty fun to me. What about removing the galvanic blasts in favor of one more birthing pod, one more green sun, and 2 red sun's zenith

The list I posted went 4-0, had some really great games of magic too (won 2 games on 1 life for multiple turns). The galvanic blasts were pretty key actually. If anything, I'd cut a green sun's zenith.
Played B/W planeswalkers this week, but deck hated my guts. Next week will be playing naya pod:
Naya Pod 4 Birds of Paradise 1G 2 Avacyn's Pilgrim 1G 3 Strangleroot Geist 2GG 1 Viridian Emissary 2G 3 Blade Splicer 3W 1 Daybreak Ranger 3G 1 Fiend Hunter 3WW 1 Phyrexian Metamorph 4U* 1 Solemn Simulacrum 4 3 Huntmaster of the Fells 4RG 1 Hellrider 4RR 1 Acidic Slime 5GG 1 Geist-Honored Monk 5WW 1 Archon of Justice 5WW 1 Wurmcoil Engine 6 1 Inferno Titan 6RR 1 Sun Titan 6WW 1 Primeval Titan 6GG 1 Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite 7WW
3 Green Sun's Zenith 4 Birthing Pod
24 Lands 6 Forest 1 Mountain 1 Plains 4 Copperline Gorge 4 Razorverge Thicket 2 Rootbound Crag 4 Sunpetal Grove 1 Gavony Township 1 Kessig Wolf Run
R 7 G 20 W 9
SB: 1 Acidic Slime 5GG 1 Thrun, the Last Troll 4GG 2 Oblivion Ring 3W 2 Act of Aggression 5RR* 2 Ancient Grudge 2R 2 Celestial Purge 2W 2 Surgical Extraction 2B 1 Huntmaster of the Fells 4GR 2 Ray of Revelation 2G
Cheers

Dayv Doberne played that 4 color pod list in the top 8, I've been talking with him on facebook over the last few months after he won an SCG with RDW (he's a bigtime Red Deck player). He's going to have an SCG article coming probably this week talking about Pod

Yeah, that's just about the exact list I would play. I might try to fit one more Viridian Emissary in there, but with all of the flying creatures out there, it's probably not a big deal.

This might be a little too greedy on my part, but what are people's thoughts on adding a fourth color? Blue would be for Phantasmal Images, which I'm always a fan of, and black would be for Unburial Rites and/or Vault of the Archangel. The Vault might be a nice utility land similar to the Township and/or Wolf Run. An example of this would be the four-color Pod deck that Todd Anderson wrote about on StarCity: www.starcitygames.com/magic/standard/23804_GP_Nashville_2nd_And_Birthing_Pod_In_Standard.html

That's a pretty good one. I don't think I would be able to cut a color, either. Blue is definitely color number three, since Phantasmal Image is just insane, but either red or black could easily be a fourth color. So many choices...

I was just thinking about the Pod list that Pat created back when we went to St. Louis for the StarCity 5K awhile back, and how similar it is to the four-color Pod list that others have adopted in the current metagame. Unfortunately, I can't find an exact list, but I know that there was only one Island, one Swmp, one Isolated Chapel, and one Glacial Fortress for splash colors. The spells we splashed were Phantasmal Image, Glissa, and Unburial Rites.
Fast forward to today's four-color Pod, and it looks very similar. For reference, my current list:
6 Forest 2 Plains 1 Island *1 Mountain 1 Gavony Township 1 Inkmoth Nexus *1 Kessig Wolf Run 4 Razorverge Thicket 3 Sunpetal Grove 3 Hinterland Harbor *1 Rootbound Crag (24)
4 Birds of Paradise 3 Phantasmal Image 2 Strangleroot Geist 1 Viridian Emissary 2 Blade Splicer *1 Daybreak Ranger 1 Fiend Hunter 1 Phyrexian Metamorph 1 Solemn Simulacrum *1 Huntmaster of the Fells 1 Stonehorn Dignitary 1 Acidic Slime 1 Archon of Justice 1 Geist-Honored Monk 1 Wurmcoil Engine 1 Sun Titan 1 Primeval Titan 1 Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite
4 Birthing Pod 4 Rampant Growth 3 Green Sun's Zenith
...plus some other random 1's in the board (Creeping Renaissance, Razor Hippogriff, Viridian Corrupter, Thrun, Brindle Boar, another Slime, another Fiend, another Daybreak, etc)
It occurred to me today, why not go with black instead of red? The following cards (marked with a * in the list) require a red mana symbol: - Huntmaster of the Fells - Daybreak Ranger - Kessig Wolf Run - Rootbound Crag - Mountain
If I were to play black instead, I might play the following: - Unburial Rites - Glissa, the Traitor - Vault of the Archangel - Woodland Cemetery - Swamp
...plus maybe a second Unburial Rites for one less Green Sun's Zenith. That would make the list look like this:
6 Forest 2 Plains 1 Island *1 Swamp 1 Gavony Township 1 Inkmoth Nexus *1 Vault of the Archangel 4 Razorverge Thicket 3 Sunpetal Grove 3 Hinterland Harbor *1 Woodland Cemetery (24)
4 Birds of Paradise 3 Phantasmal Image 2 Strangleroot Geist 1 Viridian Emissary 2 Blade Splicer *1 Glissa, the Traitor 1 Fiend Hunter 1 Phyrexian Metamorph 1 Solemn Simulacrum 1 Stonehorn Dignitary 1 Acidic Slime 1 Archon of Justice 1 Geist-Honored Monk 1 Wurmcoil Engine 1 Sun Titan 1 Primeval Titan 1 Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite
4 Birthing Pod 4 Rampant Growth 2 Green Sun's Zenith 2 Unburial Rites
Seems pretty close to what the rest of the community is already running, yes? Thoughts?

I don't have time for a long post right now but personally I think huntsmaster and daybreak ranger are two of the strongest cards in pod right now. Daybreak ranger handles a lot of the fliers from delver, and its very easy in pod to not play something for a turn in order to flip him, at which point he is dominating. Huntsmaster offers cruicial lifegain and blockers and occasionally provides reach damage or creature kill if he gets flipped.
The black cards don't offer a lot or value here. While unburial rites is never a bad card it, by the time you get to bigger drops in pod you should be winning already and its usually not worth recurring the small guys despite having a toolbox. Sun Titan's a different story but he probably doesn't fit with the structure of this build.
Kiblers videos and articles have been really good on his deck, he went 7-1 at the invitational with it against some of the best players in the country. He also talked about having elements of aggression and removal, such as hellrider and Inferno Titan. (Or hero of bladehold if your more white). I really like how his deck has most of the power of r/g Aggro but also has pod so it can just go over the top when it needs to or tutor up bullets.
Ill try to get those videos and articles posted when I get a chance. I think Ben Rasmussen has it built too

Yeah, I saw his list when he made the Top X of a recent StarCity tournament. I just can't let go of the power of Phantasmal Image in a Pod deck. If it ever got to the point of cutting Pods, well, that would be Wolf Run and an entirely different deck. The only way I'd play Hellrider or Inferno Titan is if I cut the blue.
However, I would like to see some of those videos.

Well, after running through a number of games last night, I learned one thing about the Pod deck that I already knew: it's very weak against flyers. Whether it was Lingering Souls, Skirsdag High Priest, or a bunch of Drogskol Captains, almost every flying creature was a big problem. I'm starting to appreciate the value of Inferno Titan a little more.
For next week, I think I'm going to try and find a straight Naya Pod list without the blue splash and run at least one Inferno Titan to see if that helps at all.
